With exhibitions representing the vast arena of Mongolian history, the the Choijin Lama Temple galleries include traditional costumes of Buddhist culture and the stunning artworks of the great Zanabazar.
The temple complex is of fairly recent provenance, built between the years 1904 and 1908 under the direction of the Mongolian architect Om bogo. The monastery was closed in 1938 and in 1942 the complex was reopened as a museum of religion. A ten-foot-high wall measuring 200 feet by 400 feet surrounds the complex, which includes four temples; in the Amagalan Temple, resides this most distinctively Zanabazar bronze of Vajrasattva.
